Home, Sweet, Home

Wow does it feel good to be home. I promise I'll post more details of the trip later, as well as lots of pictures. But being gone for 10 days means I've got some catching up to do on other "real life" stuff.

Plus the boy's third (!!!!) birthday is Saturday.

*Quick Amsterdam Update*

Hello all! I just wanted to say hi and let you know we arrived safe and sound. Today was our last full day in Amsterdam, and tomorrow we are off to Berlin to meet our friend Moritz and be with him as he gets married this weekend.

I'm having a truly amazing time and it's unbelievable here. The differences and the similarities. I need more time.

But I miss my kids and I miss my husband. I love a vacation and all, but it'll be good to be home.

More details and pictures once I return home!

I'm off!!!

Wooot. in less then 24 hours from now I'll be on my way to Europe! I'm almost done packing. I think I've stopped because I'm getting a little hesitant to leave my kiddos. :-( I've got a lovely stack of pictures I'm taking, but I'll still miss them terribly. I haven't even really put together the phrase "I'm leaving my kids for 10 days" (Acckkkk) because it hurts.

Keep your fingers crossed that the flight is safe and I return in one piece. Keep your fingers crossed for Adam too.

Bye guys!

Shopping makes me think

Earlier today, I promised Conner we could paint after his nap. Only when he lay down did I realize that he had no paints left. Woot, off to the store for me. Plus, I needed to get him a pair of swim trunks that didn't "hurt his tepacles".

Off to Big Lots I go. As I was pulling out of the Big Lots parking lot, I had to laugh as I remembered how, just around 10 years ago, I would have been MORTIFIED for anyone to see me coming and going from there, and if I was with my mom and dad and they had to go in, I would beg to stay in the car. Now, I am usually there at least once a week. Yeah that's not really a good story, but it made me laugh.

Since this was a solo venture, I decided to take advantage of Target being right across the street. As I was pulling in I was greeted by an ultimate frustrater. The big ass SUV in front of me is just stopped in the pedestrian walkway that's just outside the door. Just stopped. Seriously, we sat there for like 3 minutes with nothing. Then the passenger door swings open and some lady comes rolling out, the stink of entitlement (or stupidity) following close behind. If you're going to stop f-ing traffic so your fat ass doesn't have to walk "all the way" across the Target parking lot, at least be ready when your chauffeur stops. Ugghh.

On the way out I passed the cart boy sweating and heaving a long line of carts in and I chuckled and thought boy I'm glad I don't have to work in this heat anymore. Through out high school and a little bit of college I worked at my beloved Target and that was when they still had the Garden Centers in the parking lots. I loved working it. When I went to the store manager and asked if I could be scheduled out there, he laughed and said I was the only person who'd ever volunteered for that position. I think that was one of my favorite jobs.

Random Things

* The Louisville Smoking Ban- Believe it or not, I actually went out on Saturday night with some friends. Unbeknownst to me, it was the first night of the way strict smoking ban. You know what? I honestly could not tell a drop in attendance whatsoever. People need to get the hell over this. It's here and it's fine. People are not going to stop going out.

*Adam accepted his officers commission while performing his two weeks at Atterbery. I'm happy for him because this gives him a real opportunity to be a good leader to his men, and work on giving more to the community on his one weekend a month, and of course he gets a pay increase. It did extend our commitment another 3 years. I am not happy about this, and he does have to return to Ft. Benning for one 6 week course and another 12 week course. He does have 2 years to complete it, and during that time he is non-deployable. (BUSH move your shit and end this war by then. Kay? Thanks). There is also a lovely bonus when he completes the last two courses.

*I leave in less then 2 weeks for Germany! Of course that is still pending on my passport arrival. I know it's being processed as we speak but let's hope they move it the F along.

Ben and I actually met through an ex-boyfriend. We just kept hanging around through marching band and theatre. He was a fun guy and always in a good mood. We lost touch after high school but remained friendly when bumping in to each other around town and at stuff like Harvest Homecoming.

My prayers and thoughts go out to Ben''s family and his close friends.
