Photographer Throwdown!

My pal Lana, a fellow photographer, (check her out over at Cease Fire Studios ) contacted me last week about doing a daily photography challenge.

Basically we take turns coming up with a theme, then we each take a photo that represents our spin or interpretation of the theme.

I like this idea because as someone who photographs people primarily, sometimes I loose touch with photographing inanimate objects.

The challenge starts today, Monday, and will go through the end of the week. Be sure to stop by mine and Lana's blogs and let us know who you think captured it best!

Oh yeah, bring it Lana, bring it!!!

Now I Need Some New Toys

My friends Scotty and Rob invited me out to their office/studio space to check out their new lights. After only about 10 minutes, I decide I was in love. Man oh man are these Alien Bee lights fantastic.

Of course, my adorable babies were there to serve as models.

We Need Your Help!

As many of you know, I am an affiliated photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization in which photographers donate their time to families who don't get to take their babies home from the hospital.

As both my children spent precious time in the NICU, one being very touch and go for a while, this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart.

Please don't misunderstand, this is a very, very hard thing to do. People often ask me, "How do you not just cry through the whole thing". Umm I do. I cry the whole drive to the hospital and silently cry throughout the session. However, I firmly believe that God lifts the burden from my heart upon leaving the session. Otherwise, there is absolutely no way I could continue doing this.

OK, here's where we need your help, there are only 5 photographers in the Kentuckiana area who have agreed to give their time and talents to this organization, with a combined population of over 1 million people, it's just not working. All 5 of us have families, jobs and other outside commitments. We need some more people. BAD!

The area coordinator, Courtney Lambert, has posted some more information over on her blog, please visit her blog and look to your heart, your God, wherever and see if this is a cause you can help!

Perfect Weather for Water Balloons

Mr. A had drill with the National Guard this weekend so he didn't get home to celebrate Father's Day until late on Sunday. But that gave us plenty of time to make a cherry pie for him as well as some cookies.

Then we filled up some water balloons and went outside to play mosquito bait. (Seriously I have 14 bites on my legs from that night, I counted!)

Happy Father's Day

Just a quick note to say Happy Father's Day to my wonderful Dad and my sweet husband, and his dad.

I'm sending loves to both my late grandfathers as well.
Please be sure so tell any and all father figures in your life Happy Father's Day!

Hooray! I'm pleased to announce that www.LouisvilleBoudoir.com is finally live! I am ready to rock and roll with some boudoir sessions. Please stop by and say hello and let me know what you think!

While I shoot weddings and portraits, boudoir sessions have always been my favorite. I love the femininity of them, the fun that I have with the girls during the sessions, and I just love when they get their images how great they feel about themselves.

They make a great anniversary, birthday, Christmas, wedding or heck Father's Day present! Or I love when someone gives me a buzz and wants to do one "just because"!

And please, please be assured that I regard your privacy in the utmost regard. I absolutely will not splash your image around (unless you want me too!)

I look forward to "shooting" all you hotties out there reading soon! :-)

Fabulous Etsy Finds

As I mentioned before, I love supporting handmade ventures. Etsy has been the biggest supporter of the handmade industry. I have purchased several items from Etsy sellers, from yarn to jewelry to clothing.

I have also sold several items via Etsy.

One of the most fun things about getting my Etsy orders is the amount of time and energy that most of the sellers put into their packaging. As I posted about on my photography blog, packaging is one of my weak spots.

I've ordered a few more pieces of jewelry from Maizie Designs and when they arrived the other day, I just had to snap some more pictures, her packaging is so cute!

Take a look!

Shiny and New...kinda

Many thanks to B for switching me over to Blogger. I was using Moveable Type and HATED it. Every time I went to change something or tweak the layout it just turned into a big mess. That was really part of the reason I stopped posting so regularly. I hated looking at the mess of it, and hated making other people come to see it!!!

I've been reading some of the archives and having a good laugh. Very funny.

Of course now it looks a lot like all the other blogs out there, but I'm not concerned about that. I just want an easy place for people to come and read about whats up with me and the kiddos.

Also, for those that didn't know, my mother-in-law finally got her chickens and has started blogging about the chickens and the grandbabies. Check her out! Free Ranging Chickens and Grandchildren

We Make Cute Babies

The other morning, Bean, Bug and I were out coloring chalk on the front porch. A quick aside, coloring with the chalk has quickly become one of their favorite activities, which makes me happy, I like that they're being creative and I like that they are a fan of 'front porch sittin'.

A real smile

She always looks at me so suspiciously!

(and I apologize for the watermarking, but it angers me when I see my pictures all around the internet)

Over Mother's Day we spent the weekend camping at Red River Gorge. We hiked up to the Natural Bridge and I nearly died.
