Let's Do the Time Warp, FINAL Nail Challenge!

Whew, i had a fun time coming up with all these ideas, but I'm longing for some non-stressful mani's! lol The final theme was Let's Do the Time Warp Again, we got to choose another manicure entry from another participant and recreate it! Here is my inspiration: GelaNails
Here is my take!
The chalice is the symbol for the church I attend. The denomination is Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we're a pretty open-minded, welcoming (dare I say... Liberal!!!) church, and just recently at the state yearly meeting, the delegates decided to welcome Gays and Lesbians to be ordained in the church. Yeah!

Let's Do the Time Warp, Nail Challenge, Day 7!

Today is the 7th day in the Time Warp Nail Blog Challenge, and the theme for the day is:

You're Timeless to Me,
Kids, this one was tricky. I could NOT come up with something, so I employed the help of my deployed (and sexually deprived) husband. He got it right away.
SEX! lol, people loved it then, and people love it today. He's pretty clever, huh? Next it was up to me to figure out how to get it to translate to nail without being full on vulgar!

Here we go!

(Here are the over all pics, remember the camo on my ring finger is for my deployed husband, always there, not part of the design!)
Triple X's on the middle finger, panties on the pointer!

the corset on the the thumb.

Let's Do the Time Warp, Challenge 5!

We Can Do It! That is the theme for today's challenge.
Here are my nails, can you guess the inspiration??

Here it is:
I modified it just a bit, made it say "vote' instead of votes. and I chipped it (it was hard to not peel aaalll of it off!) so it would look old and battered and whatnot. Enjoy. :-)

NeverlandNailBlog Challenge, Day 4

Whew, a bit late, but here we go! Again, here is the rundown of the days themes
I chose to go with a book, To Kill A Mockingbird
There's the picket fence, the bird on the fence and the tire swing...

Conner's Challenge Swim!!

Hi guys! Conner is on the Riverside Aquatics Club swim team this year. They are coming up on their annual Challange Swim on Thursday, October 4. During this event each swimmer is challenged to swim just a little bit further than they have been. The funds they raised are used to pay not only for team wear, but also meets, equipment and the summer swimming program which RAC took over when the New Albany Floyd County Parks Department recently eliminated. This is an important undertaking as it serves mostly those kids who can't afford regular swim team fees. Check out the link below and if you feel like donating, Conner and the rest of the team would really appreciate it. :-)

Let's Do the Time Warp Again, Nail Art Challenge, Day 3

Whew! I don't know how some of these bloggers do swatch after swatch and post with such consistency! The pressure! The theme for day 3 is, I Remember When. We were to take inspiration from a special event from the past and make it 'nailable' lol. Once again, here is the day theme breakdowns!

I am pretty sure that I have a tie for my most memorable day. The day my kiddos were born. I asked them each to pick out 2 colors that they wanted me to use. Then i alternated the nails with their colors. Conner's was, of course, the blue and yellow, Lilli chose pink and purple. :-)

And of course, here are my gorgeous inspirations!

Nail Blog Contest, It's Vintage, Darling!

Today is the 2nd day of the nail blog challenge. Again, the theme Let's Do the Time Warp Again!

The theme is, It's Vintage, Darling. We had to pull inspiration from a fashion style from the past! I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

Here is my inspiration piece! :-)

And here we go! (remember I wear the camo on my ring finger while my husband is deployed, it's not part of the design)

Neverland Nail Blog Contest

I'm participating in my first nail art contest, and I am super nervous. I just checked out the other submissions from other nail geeks and whoa. I am way out of my element.

But I'm gonna still participate because it's fun and makes me push my nail art comfort zone! ha.

There are actually 8 different days in this Challenge, here is the link if you wanna learn more!

The first day is 'I should have been born in...' Well this one was a no-brainer for me. I love (almost) everything about the 1940's, especially style wise. I just had to find a way to incorporate that into some nails! Here is my inspiration:

Here's how I translated that onto my nails:

So yeah, like I said, not the best execution, but I was pretty happy. :-)

OPI Teenage Dream

I don't regularly purchase my nail polishes from consumer retail outlets (IE target, ulta, kroger) anymore, but every now and then I come across a polish from an old collection that I can't get at the supply house anymore.

My most recent OPI addition was one of those instances. I found Teenage Dream, from the Katy Perry collection on the shelf like just a regular permanent polish.

the one on the left
I have a couple others from this collection, but never had or saw this one, once I started really looking. But then I saw it, just sitting there shining on the shelf in all it's pink holographic glory. Snag.

This is two coats over black. (I tried to capture it a little blurry so you could see the holographic glittery goodness)

Do you have any of the polishes from the Katy Perry collection?

Shocking Confession

So unless you've been living under a rock for the last few months, you've no doubt heard of the 'Grey Trilogy', starting with the first book, 50 Shades of Grey. While you may not know the fine details, many know it's a book that has raised more than a few eyebrows (and blood pressures). It has been called the next Twilight, the newest installment of 'mommy porn'  and now some libraries and book stores are hoping on the hot censure-ship train and banning the book all together. So what's all the brewhaha about? Well, it's a book about sex. Lots and lots of sex. Stranger sex than most of us (I'm assuming) are used too. and People are losing their minds. I have seen friends on facebook talk about how they've read through the trilogy in a matter of days. Husbands are mad because nothing is getting done around the house.  The funniest (and truest?) reference to this book has been the skit that SNL did a few weeks back for Mother's Day. The craziest part, now it's being turned into a movie. I seriously have no idea how that is going happen. I mean short of an nc17 rating, I have no idea how this is going to get accomplished. Although, that might be ok, because unlike Twilight, the original intended audience is not young adults. (seriously, that 'sex scene' in breaking dawn was the biggest let down ever, show me some Rob!!... err anyway).

Alrighty, back to my post title.... what's the shocking confession?? I am not digging it. I can't get through the first book. I have an account so i can download books to listen to while I edit pictures. I knew the book was popular but wasn't quite sure what it was really about (apparently my googler was down that day). So I was like oh hey, a book that's NOT Hunger Games I'll give it a try. Holy crapface. I was so not ready. What most women have read in a day, has taken me almost 2 months to LISTEN TO, and I'm still not done with it. I can only get through, like half a chapter at a time.

Now, I don't consider myself a prude or anything (i photograph women in their underwear for a living) but I just don't get it. Not even that, I don't like it. I don't want to read about it. (this is the part where if you're family and you don't want to read about my sex life, you should stop) To me, sex is something that's kind of a big deal, and should be treated as such. In the book, the guy, Christian Grey, makes the girl, Annastasia Steele, a college co-ed virgin, sign a contract to enter into a BDSM relationship. and she is swooney as fuck over it. It's almost sickening. Because this guy is good-looking she's like oh sure, red room of pain, whatevs. EVEN THOUGH SHE'S NEVER HAD SEX EVER BEFORE, she's just gonna give it up to some dude who's gonna beat her through it. Now I get it, I'm a rare breed, my husband is the only person i've ever 'been with'. while we started dating in 10th grade it wasn't until after graduated until high school that we sealed the deal, ifyaknowhatimean. So I'm not exactly the best person to be speaking on worldly views on doin' it. but i just don't get the allure. Don't we want someone who's going to make us feel amazing, inside and out, not make us sign a contract and then smack us around with a paddle while wearing rubber gloves. Yeah, that's some real swoon-worthy shiz right there. Don't misunderstand, I like sex. A lot. Maybe it's because my husband doesn't use a paddle?

Alright, I'm sure you've all hit the point where you're like, Ceece, seriously, what is the point of this. I guess I'm not really sure, other than  I want to know if I'm not the only female in the world who wasn't turned on by this book!!!

Have you read it? What are your thoughts?
